WBAIS and Israel:
Established under the auspices of the American Embassy in 1958, The Walworth Barbour
American International School in Israel (WBAIS) is a MSA accredited, fully independent,
co-educational Pre-K – 12 international school, which offers a robust program leading to a US high
school diploma.
With a present enrollment of approximately 600 students representing over 40 nationalities, AIS
Israel is a diverse and vibrant community. Approximately 40% of AIS students are American, 40%
from countries all over the world, and 20% Israelis.
In 2008 WBAIS moved to its current 19-acre campus that opened in 2007 and is located in the
town of Even Yehuda, a residential community approximately 20 kilometers north of Tel Aviv. The
purpose-built campus includes four separate divisions, a performing arts building with a 400-seat
auditorium, full gym, cafeteria, library and media center, athletic fields, tennis and basketball
courts, and an olympic-sized pool.
POSITION OBJECTIVES:
Our teachers deliver high quality instruction that celebrates critical thinking, analysis, skill
development and a focus on the scientific method throughout the curriculum. Use of effective
learning tools, such as rubrics and portfolios, laboratories and field work are an integral part of this
position. We are seeking an individual who embraces best pedagogical practice and also actively
contributes to the life and culture of the school.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
● Teach Chemistry and / or Biology Curriculum, including either AP Chemistry or AP Biology.
● Evaluate and Mentor Students
● Collaborate with Students, Teachers and Parents
● Maintain a successful classroom learning environment
● Plan and Supervise Extra-Curricular Activities
Qualifications:
● Completed a Bachelor's Degree in the content area(s) – preferably a Master’s.
● Current and valid teaching license.
● HS Science Teaching Experience
Position Expectations: To excel in this position, an individual must successfully perform each
essential responsibility, in addition to the following:
● Classroom technology – be familiar with educational technology such as smartboards,
GSuite, Vernier or other Probeware, and online learning management systems.
● Classroom facilitation – effectively orchestrate a class with high learning impact, by
incorporating best practices into the classroom.
● Curriculum development – contribute to the development and documenting of curricular
documents (unit plans, assessments, standards documentation, etc.).
● Communication skills – proactively communicate to integrate all community stakeholders
into the learning process.
